"You don't take a photograph, you make it" Ansel Adams

About me

I started my journey as a photographer like many a kid in the 90’s – with the humble disposable camera. But my interest was really sparked when I started at a new high school and to my dismay all the Woodwork classes were full. In a last ditch effort to avoid Geography I signed up for Photography and instantly fell in love with the process. From the moment I saw my first print appear, like magic, in the developer I knew this was what I wanted to do.

After my degree in Canberra I moved straight to London. It’s in the Big Smoke that my passion for the urban landscape was born. The gritty beauty it holds, with its energy, bright lights and busy streets.

It’s where I got a chance to delve into the world of fashion and advertising and hone my craft. Learning from a generation of true artists, last bastions of a film era, how to truly understand light, master composition but also how to bend all the rules of photography.

After seven grey years, and more shoots in more places than I thought possible, I decided it was time to come home.  Now loving living in Sydney, (especially the Frosty Fruits and sunshine) and relishing the variety of the work that's on offer as part of a creative community. I love that being a photographer means I get to see and capture the everyday differently, and use an image to tell a story or make a statement.

My inspiration and motivation is my young family, who have taught me a lot about what is actually truly important.
